I have a deep and unwavering belief in the healing power of families. Having worked in mental health at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario for almost twenty years, I have personally witnessed that when children and youth are struggling, they have the best outcomes when their parents/caregivers are directly involved in their care. For this reason, Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) is central to my approach.
Parents can sometimes get stuck in self-blame and wonder how they can be part of the solution. It can be overwhelming to know where to start or how to address these issues. As a therapist, I support and coach parents to develop new therapeutic skills to help their youth cope with their specific mental health struggles and/or life challenges.
